Farashgard (Iran Revival) was launched on Monday, September 17, 2018, with the aim of nonviolently overthrowing the Islamic Republic in Iran. Our slogan in this fight is, “We will reclaim Iran and rebuild it.”
Our name is a metaphorical adaptation of the ancient word “Farashgard” from the Pahlavi language (Middle Persian). This word is derived from the theme of one of the main pillars of Mazdisna (Zoroastrian religion) and means: “bringing the world to the perfection that existed before the devil invaded and entered it.”
Farashgard introduces itself as a “political network for subversion.” Farashgard advocates for a secular democracy in Iran either through a republic or a constitutional monarchy, but believes that the exact form of the future political system will be freely chosen by the people of Iran after the nonviolent overthrow of the Islamic Republic.
Farashgard considers Prince Reza Pahlavi to have a key and pivotal role in coalescing all parts of Iranian society and the secular-democratic opposition toward a nonviolent overthrow.
One of Farashgard’s goals is to try to reflect the will of the opposition of the Islamic Republic to the world at large so that the Iranian people’s aspiration for fundamental change can be amplified globally.
Farashgard calls on all political opponents of the Islamic Republic inside and outside the country to work together to nonviolently overthrow the ruling regime and move towards liberal, secular democracy, with clear distinction from political Islam and communist ideologies (The Red and Black Alliance) that have plagued our homeland. It is believed that these ideologies have been and will always be harmful and destructive to Iran.
Farashgard believes the anti-American and anti-Israeli foreign policies of the current regime are detrimental to Iran’s national interests and that Iran’s peaceful co-existence and economic-political cooperation with our neighbors and all countries should be the principles of a favorable foreign policy.
Some of our campaigns are as below.
Bishomarim (We are Countless)
This crowd-sourcing project to aid nationwide protests in Iran is achieved with the round-the-clock efforts of a group of IT programmers and activists–the Free Iran Expert Team–and with the support of the Farashgard (Iran Revival) network.
Here are some of the features and goals of the #wearecountless crowd-sourcing platform:
1. Daily registration and observation of strikes throughout Iran with details of the number and sites of strikes
2. Identification of military, police, and security centers throughout Iran
3. Identification of the locations of CCTV cameras in the country
4. Instant identification of the increased presence of police and military forces in cities with the ability to distinguish the type and number of units in question
More info on this project can be found at https://Bishomarim.com.
The ‘Wanted’ Campaign
The ‘Wanted’ Campaign was launched by Farashgard in 2020 with two goals:
First, to expose the responsibility of authorities in Iran for their violation of the rights of the people, and second, to lay the groundwork for their prosecution in a court of law.
My Face to the Nation! My Back to the Enemy!
In 2019, when Iranians organized to boycott state media, Farashgard launched a broader campaign of civil disobedience and refusal of regime practices, symbols, consumer products, institutions, and ideological expectations for behavior. The campaign name is based on a slogan made popular by courageous protestors who sat with their backs turned to regime officials.
